Challenge Me

I like Thursdays as it's one of the two days I get to show off some wonderful layouts! Before we get to the challenges & layouts, don't forget that there's still time to participate in the Stuff to Scrap Forum Blog Train. Head over to the All Aboard thread for instructions & get your contribution posted by September 25 at 11:59 PM MST to earn points.

One great challenge where you can flex those designer muscles is the Color Challenge. Every month one of the designers will post a color palette & members have several options to earn points. First you can make a mini kit to share with the other forum members; the kit needs to remain free for the entire month for members to grab, after which you can sell it or expand it. You'll earn 10 points if you go this route. If you like making quick pages, you can do so with any of the minis provided in the thread & then post it to share with the rest of us. This option will net you 5 points.

Please post download links for kits & quick pages in your post; do not direct people to your blog for the download. The last option is to make a layout that uses colors that match the palette, you can use any of the mini kits provided or use another kit that has the colors. This last option will earn you 5 points. Head over to the September Color Challenge thread to see this month's palette! On the left is the mini kit submitted by Hannah; on the right is a layout by Jeneric using several of the minis up for grabs this month.

Ever had a song that you just couldn't get out of your head? That happens to our designers all the time so the Song Lyric Challenge was created. Each month a new song is posted & then you'll need to use some of the lyrics or even all of the lyrics if you so choose in your layout! This challenge will net you 10 points & if you use 90% or more of any current STS products you'll earn an extra 5 points! This month's song is Amazed by Lonestar [love that song]; head over to the September song Lyric Challenge thread for all the lyrics & start scrapping. On the left we have Wesley by Katherine using the kit Rivets and Robots by Designs by Snowlady; on the right is Amazed by Gluvsc using Birthday Girl by Flower Scraps

Each month in the Use It or Lose It Challenge our designers offer a little mini kit for you to download. The catch? You need to use everything in the mini kit on your layout! It can be such a challenge [hah! Of course it's a challenge!] but always so much fun to see how different all the layouts turn out. This month, Amy of 3 Lil' Monsters Designs made a mini from her Mister Moon kit; if you'd like to pick up the full kit in the store, you can also use anything from that on the layout. But you must use everything included in the mini kit for your layout to count. Head over to the September Use It or Lose It Challenge thread to pick up the free mini. On the left is Mother and Daughter by Dennise; on the right is Greenfield Village by Angeldevildog [which I picked because I went to summer camp there for a few years!].

Working with digital all the time can make one long for the scent of fresh glue. If that describes you, then check out the Hybrid Challenge where you are given a project each month that will use both digital & traditional scrapbooking products. I've been loving doing hybrids lately, for the most part they are pretty easy & you don't need much other than a printer, a good pair of scissors, & glue for the basic stuff. This month we're making envelop books & they are really easy to make with any leftover envelops from holiday cards you may having laying around. If you complete this challenge, you'll earn 15 points! This is one I did & features In My Closet by Scrappin' Serenity.

Remember that you've got a few more days to complete the weekly challenges. The Word of the Week is Wonderful; you have until Saturday, September 24 to post your layouts in this week's WOW thread by Saturday night to earn your points. Remember that to earn the bonus points, you need to complete each week's challenge, you can find the WOW rules & point tracking thread right here. On the left is Wonderful by Tomosia using Sweet Pea by Just For You Digi Scraps; on the right is Book Cover by Gyurgyik using Girls Night Out by Scraps N' Pieces [the word wonderful is actually in Hungarian on this layout!].

For the Challenge of the Week we've been challenged to do a Versus/Rivalry layout; you have until Saturday, September 24 to post your layouts in this week's COW thread. Remember that to earn the bonus points, you need to complete each week's challenge, you can find the COW rules & point tracking thread right here. On the left is Just So You by Amy using Just So AmyDane Designs [releasing 9/23!]; on the right is Grandmas by Katherine using Classic Beauty by Just So Scrappy.

This week's Featured Designer Challenge is brought to you Becky AKA SAHM Scrapper & runs until Sunday, September 25. You'll get a great participation prize if you post a layout in the thread by Sunday night. Even better, Becky has put her whole store on sale for 50% off until Sunday so if you don't have any of her fabulous kits yet, now you've got a great excuse to pick one up! On the left we have Cassie by Queenbee757 using A Bug's Life; on the right is Summer 2011 by Nita using Spring Fling.

Don't forget there's a speed scrap today, Thursday, September 22 at 12 PM PST / 1 PM MST / 2 PM CST / 3 PM EST & will be hosted by Britt of Gettin' Scrappy with Britt. Come & join Britt & other forum members in the chat room or follow along in the forum.

The Fine Print: You'll earn points on almost all of the challenges & when you reach 500 points, you'll receive a $5.00 gift card to the Stuff to Scrap store to purchase anything that catches your fancy. Points roll over from month to moth & do not expire! Please remember that to earn any extra bonus points, you must state in your challenge post that you've used 90% or more current STS products or you will not earn the bonus points. There is no double dipping with challenges, i.e. you cannot use a layout made for a speed scrap for one of the monthly challenges. You are most welcome to make a post in the September Challenge Round-up thread to keep track of all the challenges & points you've earned. As always, the layouts featured in this post are linked to the gallery for easy love leaving.
