Meet The Designer ~ The Scrappy Kat

Let's start with the basics:

Name: Katina Curten
Username at Stuff to Scrap: krcurten
Blog Address: http://katinacurten.blogspot.com/
Store: The Scrappy Kat

Me & my son Logan

Now that you know which designer we're talking too, lets learn a little more about them and family comes first:

Husband: Glen, married 7 years.
Kids: Logan, almost 3.
Pets: Pepe, my miniature poodle, he is 13.

What do you like doing with your family?

We love to do things together outside, whether it is sledding in the winter months or swimming at the lake during the summer. We also love to play video games together, we are all kind of video game nerds.

It's an alternate universe and you're computer won't turn on for an entire week, what do you do with yourself?

You mean the world wouldn't cease to exist? Well, let's see then...I would probably get some projects done around the house that I have put off for years. Heck, maybe I would even get some of my paper scrapping stuff out and give that a whirl for awhile too.

Alright, the computer's all better - let's talk digi-scrapping for a few minutes.

When did you start designing and how did you learn?

I started designing a few months ago. I have basically just taught myself, along with a few google searches for some tuts. Plus I have gotten a lot of advice from other designers and from just seeing what they do with their kits as well.

What program/programs do you use to design?

The program I primarily use is GIMP. I started with it because it was free and didn't like the idea of shelling out the dough for something that I could get for free. However, I have been using , Photoshop CS4 lately, as I love the actions that are out there that you can use with it. That is one drawback to GIMP, as of right now Photoshop actions aren't compatible. :-(

Where do you get your inspiration?

My number one inspiration is my son and the things that he likes to do. Other sources of inspiration are my family and friends.

How did you pick your digi-scrap name?

My first name is Katina. One of my nicknames has been Kat, so The Scrappy Kat seemed like a natural choice.

What’s your favorite kit that you've designed?

My favorite kit has to be Twinkle, Twinkle, My Little Star.

Alright, this is a hard one, but what's your least favorite?

My least favorite, well, as a new designer I don't have a lot of choices. However, I would say that there was a Spring Paper Pack that I did a few months ago as a freebie that is probably my least favorite.

Describe yourself in one word: Mellow...

Share a secret with us, what's something that not everyone knows about you?

I am a huge history buff and even have a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. I would love to be a history teacher some day when my kid(s) get older.

If I said you could go anywhere in the world on vacation, where would you go?

Wow, that is a hard question...my top 3 would be Ireland, Australia, and Hawaii.

What is your favorite food?

My favorite food has to be chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and the whole thing smothered in white peppered gravy. Pair that with a tall glass of sweet iced tea and I am in heaven!

Do you collect anything?

Dreamsicles, I have a huge collection. Just ask my parents, as I am still storing the majority in their basement and I am 34 years old. LOL.

What is your favorite TV show?

Survivor is my absolute favorite, but I also like Lost, House, Top Chef, & Project Runway.

What is your favorite color?

My whole life my favorite color was always purple, but the last couple years I have had this strange addiction to green, as you would see from looking at my wardrobe.

Alright, thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself and welcome to Stuff to Scrap!

Thanks for taking the time to get to know me, as a reward for reading all the way through this post I have a little add-on freebie for you. It goes with my Twinkle, Twinkle, My Little Star kit.
